Habitat
Milk thistle is indigenous to Europe. It is now also cultivated in North/South America and Autstralia.
Traditional Uses
According to medieval legend the white markings on milk thistle leaves were caused by a drop the Virgin Mary’s milk. Consequently, the plant became known as our lady’s thistle, or marianum. From here the common name milk thistle is derived.
Medicinal Uses
Traditionally used in Herbal Medicine to promote a healthy liver; and to help relieve mild digestive disorders associated with the liver.
